Power Skating Master Class by Besa Tsintsadze Coming to Airport Ice Arena!

World class master skating coach Besa Tsintsadze will be conducting power skating classes at the Airport Ice Arena on Sunday, April 11 and Monday, April 12. Besa has worked with the NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins, the AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Baby Penguins and many other professional organizations. He has represented his native country of Georgia in three World and European Championships and claimed the national title six times in his career. He arrived in the United States in 1997 to perform as the principal skater with "Disney on Ice". Besa is the Power Skating Coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins of the NHL and has coached several NHL superstars such as Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Sergei Gonchar, Konstantin Koltsov, Colby Armstrong, Marc-Andre Fleury and David Koci.

Goaltender Clinic (UPDATED TIME)

The Pittsburgh Aviators will be hosting a goaltender clinic on Tuesday evenings throughout March and April at the Airport Ice Arena. The clinics will be held on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 PM to 6:50 PM from Tuesday, March 9 to Tuesday, April 5. Instructors for the clinic are Kyle Mortimer and Jeremy Watson, two outstanding, local goaltending instructors. The price for each goalie clinic is $30.00 per goaltender.

Power Skating/Skating Techniques Clinic

Coach Ronald Jacobs will be hosting a Power Skating/Skating Techniques clinic on Thursday evenings throughout March and April at the Airport Ice Arena. The clinics will be held from 6:30 PM to 7:20 PM starting March 11 through April 8. Coach Jacobs is a Level III USA Hockey certified coach. The cost of each session is $15.00 per player.

Small Games and Drills Clinic

Coach Ronald Jacobs will be hosting a Small Games and Drills clinic on Thursday evenings throughout March and April at the Airport Ice Arena. The clinics will be held from 7:30 PM to 8:20 PM starting March 11 through April 8. Coach Jacobs is a Level III USA Hockey certified coach. The cost of each session is $15.00 per player.

Checking Clinics

Ryan Garofolo, a 2009-2010 Aviator Pee Wee coach, will be hosting checking clinics throughout March and April at the Airport Ice Arena. The checking clinics will be held from 6:00 PM to 6:50 PM on Wednesday nights starting March 10th and ending on April 7th. Coach Garofolo is a USA Hockey Level III coach with three years experience and will be focusing on teaching checking to Squirts moving up to the Pee Wee level. The one hour on-ice session will be preceded by a classroom DVD session. The cost of the clinic is $15.00 per player per session.

Pre-tryout Clinics

Coach Junior Cannister will be hosting pre-tryout clinics each Wednesday beginning March 10 through April 7 from 7:00 PM to 7:50 PM on the Airside rink of the Airport Ice Arena. The cost is $15.00 per session. Coach Cannister will be the head coach of a U16 team and a U18 team for the upcoming 2010-2011 season.

Coach Cannister, a former Junior Penguin, has been a successful coach in the Pittsburgh area for over 10 years. His coaching assignments have included the Pittsburgh Hornets, the 1994 Pittsburgh Mega Men team (with Bob Errey) and the Southpointe Rink Rats (with Dave Hannan). Coach Cannister looks forward to meeting new players interested in joining either a U16 or a U18 team for the upcoming season.

Coming in March - Pre-tryout clinics.

Dates for pre-tryout clinics including power skating, defense techniques, stick handling, checking, shooting, and goalie-specific instruction will be posted this week. In addition, the Aviators will have age-specific stick times provided by the Airport Ice Arena.

Tryouts for 2010-2011 Season

Beginning Monday, April 12 the Aviators will be conducting tryouts for all levels through mid-May at the Airport Ice Arena.
